Citizens are a London four-piece you might recognise. They’ve been around for a year or so, and in that time they’ve played with D/R/U/G/S, Dutch Uncles and one of the best bands around at the minute, the brilliant Clock Opera.
They’ve just put out two tracks as a double-A side, and there’s some really promising stuff in the two songs. ‘Turns Gold’ eases you nicely into their electronic sound (they’d call it ‘Indietronica’), before the guitars kick in and remind you that this is a proper band. ‘Echoes’ has a similar feel until it reaches full tilt in the second half of the song, at which point you realise that these boys have good enough arrangements and a strong enough vocalist to go a long way. One to keep an eye on for sure.
