Miaoux Miaoux

This Monday sees the release of an absolute belter of a track by Miaoux Miaoux, aka Julian Corrie, on the brilliantly structured Eli & Oz singles label. If you follow the link above you’ll find there’s already been an album and EP out which are well worth your while. It’s never sounded as good as this though.

The Recommender raised an interesting point about bands’ use of punctuation in their post yesterday on the very promising Look, Stranger!, and while I largely share their trepidation I also agree that if the artist is good enough then fuck it, throw in all the unnecessary punctuation you like. I was convinced I would think Young Montana? was shit until I actually listened to the album. Turns out it’s not shit, it’s very good. And so is this song, despite the exclamation mark:

Miaoux Miaoux – Hey Sound!

Says something about the strength of a track when one hook can carry you for pretty much 5 minutes without once being boring. The B-side is even more dance-influenced:

Miaoux Miaoux – Cloud Computer

And finally the remix by Dems – who really impressed at the Great Escape, by the way – is definitely worth a download:
